For a long time, artists are using pastels as a color medium. Oil Pastels are a mix of wax and oil pigments. If we are familiar with Crayons, next step is to explore oil pastels.

Oil pastels are usually available in form of small sticks, in a pack of 12 or 24. They create effective blends and highlights. These colors create a shining effect on paper.

Once we know the fundamentals to create different colors and their respective tones and shades, we will always enjoy working with oil pastels. For oil pastels colors cannot be mixed separately on the palate. All mixing and blending occurs directly on paper.

They are little messy to work with, but the end result is quite astonishing .
