Complementary Colors

Complementary colors are pairs of colors that really goes well together creating a high contrast, as well as attention of viewer.

On a color wheel these colors stand just opposite of each other.

If you want to focus attention of a viewer on certain areas of your painting , you can try to use complementary colors to highlight the same. As shown in picture, following pairs go together with each other-

Red- Green,

Blue- Orange,

Yellow - Purple

These pairs will form a vibrant contrast in your work.
