Still life is a separate genre of paintings. This genre consists of all the items used in daily life which are man made or cannot move by themselves. Once you develop an interest for drawing and painting of this genre, possibilities of subject for artwork are numerous. Different color mediums like, Oil Pastels, Charcoal pencils, Shading Pencils, Pencil Colors , Acrylic Colors etc can be used to create an artwork for these type of paintings.



Here I have drawn a Greek style ceramic vase and a woven fruit basket on the floor. Both the subjects of the painting, are related to ancient greek culture. Texture of basket is depicted through fine detailed criss cross hatching. Shadow of vase and basket is falling on the floor, and is shown through detailed smooth shading and hatching techniques.
